Daniel Nemecek

Daniel Nemecek is a Product Marketing Manager in the Materials and Structural Analysis division of Thermo Fisher Scientific in Brno, Czech Republic. He received his Ph.D. in Biophysics from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, and from the University of Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France.

During his training, Daniel developed new Raman-based methods to characterize DNA-RNA complexes and applied this experience toward biophysical characterization of protein complexes during his postdoctoral work at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, US. Impressed by the potential of Cryo-EM, he next learned and applied Cryo-EM single particle analysis and tomography toward viruses in the laboratory of Alasdair Steven at the NIH, US.

After a faculty appointment at CEITEC in Brno, Czech Republic, Daniel led the analytical development and implementation of new Cryo-EM based methods for quantitative analysis of vaccines at Sanofi-Pasteur in Lyon, France. Daniel’s next stop was with Thermo Fisher Scientific back in Brno, Czech Republic where he played a key role in democratizing Cryo-EM through his extensive contributions to sample preparation, development of the Tundra, and as Product Manager for the entire midrange Cryo-TEM portfolio before moving to his current role of Product Marketing and Management.
