Liangcai Gu Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine University of Washington Biography Publications Institution JoVE Articles Liangcai GuAssistant Professor Dr. Gu received Ph.D. on natural product biosynthesis and mechanistic enzymology with Professor David Sherman at the University of Michigan, and then did his postdoctoral research with Professor George Church at Harvard to develop a novel molecular barcoding and in situ DNA sequencing technology, SMI-seq, for massively parallel protein interaction quantification. His own lab at the University of Washington Department of Biochemistry is developing protein and DNA barcoding and sequencing methods for protein engineering, for example, small-molecule ligand and light controlled genetically encoded biosensors, and high-resolution spatial transcriptomics and proteomics. The lab is interested in applying these technologies to address challenges in precision pharmacology for neurological and immunological disorders.
