Mattis Geiger

Mattis Geiger is a PhD student and research fellow at Ulm University, Germany. He completed his B.Sc. (2013) and M.Sc. (2015) in Ulm where he is currently also working on his PhD. In 2014, he was a Visiting Scholar and Consultant with the Educational Testing Services (ETS in Princeton, New Jersey, USA) in their Research and Development department. In 2018 he had a research stay and presentation tour in Australia with the University of Sydney, University of Western Australia (Perth) and University of Melbourne.

His doctoral thesis, titled “Out-of-the-box measurement approaches for complex interpersonal abilities”, focusses on developing and evaluating technology based measurement instruments for ability research. His current work focusses on the field of interpersonal abilities. More specifically, he studies complex abilities such as facial expression ability, facial pain expression regulation, faking ability, and deception. Besides this, he does research on biological and physiological markers in ability research, fluid and crystallized intelligence, mental speed, measurement of prosociality with pain disincentives and jingle- and jangle fallacies in psychological research.
