Yuichi Taniguchi

Yuichi Taniguchi is a Unit Leader in RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research in Japan. He received his undergraduate degree at the top of the list from Osaka University in 2001. He obtained his Ph.D. from Osaka University in 2006, with a thesis on single molecule biophysics.

During the Ph.D., he studied in Toshio Yanagida's lab on stochastic stepping movements of single kinesin molecules along microtubules (Taniguchi et al., Nature Chem. Biol., 2005). In the postdoc period, he worked in Sunney Xie's lab at Harvard University to study stochastic gene expressions in single cells (Taniguchi et al., Science, 2010). He then started a laboratory in RIKEN research institute in Japan to study on single cell omics and 3D genome structures (Ohno et al., Cell, 2019).
