Qingwen Tao

Qingwen Tao

China-Japan Friendship Hospital

Prof. Tao obtained his PhD in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in 2013, emphasizing treating rheumatic diseases with traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In 2019 he was qualified as a PhD supervisor at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; in 2020, he was awarded a post-doctoral collaborative supervisor at China-Japan Friendship Hospital. In their research life, he carved a place for himself in the field of TCM against rheumatism (Sjogren’s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, etc.). His team made prospective headway in RCT studies. It provided credible evidence for the Gubitong recipe against osteoarthritis, Qingre runza decoction against sicca syndrome, Bushen quhan zhiwang decoction against rheumatoid arthritis, and Bushen Shuji granular preparation against ankylosing spondylitis. Prof. Tao holds positions in several rheumatism associations, such as Chairman of Rheumatology Affiliate of Beijing Association of the Integrating of Traditional and Western Medicine and Vice Chairman of Rheumatology Affiliate China Association of Chinese Medicine. Due to outstanding accomplishments in clinic treatment, he is a recipient of Capital Famous Young Chinese Medic.

Guangyao Chen

Guangyao Chen

Beijing University of Chinese Medicine

Mr. Chen graduated with a Master's degree from the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2020 and is continuing his doctoral studies. His extensive and thoughtful effort was devoted to traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) against osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. He conducts a series of pharmacological researches in prospecting key candidates and mechanisms of Chinese medicine in treating rheumatic diseases via network pharmacology and validating them via experiments with research findings presented at national rheumatology conferences. Currently, he focuses on the effects of TCM on immune homeostasis to elucidate the mechanisms by which TCM works to treat immune-mediated rheumatic diseases.

Collection Overview

As a traditional medicine, Chinese medicine has evolved for thousands of years. It has produced many featured therapies, including prescriptions, acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, scrapping therapy (guasha), and the external application of Chinese herbs. Most of these techniques have been handed down in textual form, but visualization will provide a more intelligible and lucid presentation, enhancing communication efficiency and effectiveness. This Methods Collection will focus on safe and effective traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)-related techniques and innovative therapies in clinical applications, including but not limited to TCM preparation (black plaster, pills, dispensaries, etc.), acupuncture, external treatment of Chinese herbs, surgical therapy with TCM characteristics, etc. This Methods Collection will provide a platform for the clinical application of TCM and contribute to its dissemination and promotion.
