Jack van Schijndel

Jack van Schijndel (AVANS) has been a lecturer in chemistry at the AVANS University of Applied Science in Breda for over 30 years and is a member of the research group Green Chemistry. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Applied Science (Organic Chemistry) at the Hogeschool West-Brabant and his master's degree in Chemistry at the University of Utrecht. In 2016, Jack gained a "promotiebeurs voor leraren", and completed his Ph.D. research at the Eindhoven University of Technology in 2020.

His latest work focuses on the sustainable use of renewable resources for the polymer industry. The synthetic routes developed are furthermore designed along the lines of the Green Chemistry principles. He supervised as a senior scientist more than 100 projects with multinationals and SME's in the field of biopolymers and Green Chemistry. His main areas of interest are green chemistry, polymer synthesis but also teaching and learning innovations.

In 2020 he received the dutch prestigious "KNCV Onderwijsprijs" for his ability to link education, research, and industrial application for his students.
