Summary
Amerikaanse biochemicus Roger Tsien deelden de 2008 Nobelprijs voor de Scheikunde met Martin Chalfie en Osamu Shimomura voor hun ontdekking en ontwikkeling van het Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). Tsien drastisch verbeterd de wild-type GFP resulteert in een verhoogde fluorescentie, verhoogde fotostabiliteit, en een verschuiving in de grote excitatie piek tot 488 nm (matching FITC).
