Halen-suspension test er valideret som en eksperimentel procedure for at vurdere antidepressiv effekt af medicinsk behandling hos mus. Mus er suspenderet af deres haler i seks minutter og flygte-adfærd vurderes. Vi beskriver procedurer, der anvendes på at føre den halen suspension test.
Halen-suspensionsprøvning er en mus adfærdsmæssige test nyttige i screening af potentielle antidepressive lægemidler, og vurdering af andre manipulationer, som forventes at påvirke depression adfærd. Mus er suspenderet fra deres haler med tape, i en sådan position, at det ikke kan undslippe eller holde på nærliggende overflader. Under denne test, seks minutters varighed typisk er den resulterende undslippe orienterede adfærd kvantificeret. Halen-suspensionsprøvning er et værdifuldt redskab inden for lægemiddelforskning for high-throughput screening af potentielle antidepressive stoffer. Udvikling af TST ved Steru et al. 9 blev påvirket af den tidligere udviklede tvunget svømme test 10-12. Svarende til det tvungne svømme test, i TST mus er placeret i en uundgåelig, men moderat stressende situation. Mangel på flugt adfærd betragtes som immobilitet.
