Holly Nicola Wilkinson

Holly Wilkinson is an Assistant Professor and group leader at the Hull York Medical School, UK. She received her undergraduate with honors degree, and research masters, from the University of Manchester, followed by a Ph.D. in wound healing from the University of Hull, UK.

Dr Wilkinson leads the in vivo strand of the Advanced Wound Research cluster at the Hull York Medical School. Her expertise spans a wide range of acute and chronic wound models (in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo). Her group is situated in the cutting edge Daisy Research Facility at Castle Hill Hospital, providing unprecedented access to patients and clinical samples. She works with a range of clinical and academic colleagues across the Medical School to understand the causes of delayed wound healing and develop innovative and more effective treatments. Specific areas of research interest include the role of cellular senescence in wound pathology, the contribution of metals to broad aspects of wound repair and developing treatments to target wound infection.

Dr Wilkinson has been awarded numerous prizes throughout her research career. Her program of work is currently funded by Diabetes UK, the National Biofilms Innovation Centre and a number of industry partners.
