Mitophagy er den primære mekanismen for mitokondriell kvalitetskontroll. Evalueringen av mitofagi in vivo hindres imidlertid av mangelen på pålitelige kvantitative analyser. Presentert her er en protokoll for observasjon av mitophagy i levende celler ved hjelp av et celle-permeant grønn-fluorescerende mitokondrier fargestoff og en rød-fluorescerende lysosom fargestoff.
