Description

Gastric emptying is the process that slowly releases chyme from the stomach into the duodenum. Chyme is the partly digested food mixture that leaves the stomach. When the stomach stretches, it triggers gastrin release. Gastrin is a hormone that helps increase gastric acid secretion, which supports digestion.
