Quail chick-quimeras são uma ferramenta clássica para a detecção migratórias células da crista neural (CNCC) 1-3. Esta técnica pode ser ainda adaptado para transplantar um compartimento unilateral do tubo neural, tal que um lado é derivado a partir de tecido do dador, e os restos lado contralateral não perturbada no embrião hospedeiro, yielding um controle interno, dentro da mesma amostra 2,47.
