Lo scopo di questo metodo è quello di generare un modello in vivo di angiogenesi tumorale xenotrapianto di cellule tumorali dei mammiferi in un embrione di pesce zebra che ha vasi sanguigni etichettati fluorescentmente. Esaminando lo xenotrapianto e i vasi associati, è possibile ottenere una misurazione quantitativa della risposta angiogenica.
