Wir beschreiben die Schritte zur perkutanen Implantation der intraaortalen Ballonpumpe (IABP), einer mechanischen Kreislaufunterstützung. Es wirkt durch Gegenpulsation, Aufblasen zu Beginn der Diastole, Erhöhung des diastolischen Aortendrucks und Verbesserung des koronaren Blutflusses und der systemischen Perfusion sowie Deflation vor der Systole, wodurch die linksventrikuläre Nachlast reduziert wird.
