Den rotte ortotopiske nyretransplantasjonsmodellen bidrar til å undersøke mekanismen for renal allograft avvisning. Den nåværende modellen øker mottakernes overlevelse uten forstyrrelser i blodtilførselen og venøs refluks i underkroppen ved hjelp av en ende-til-ende anastomose av nyreimplantasjon og en ende-til-side "tunnel" metode for urin-blære anastomose.
