Fibrin matricer indeholdende vækstfaktorer blev brugt til at tilbageholde påhæftede neurale stamceller i lokaliteter af komplette rygmarv transection. Transplanterede celler helt fyldt læsionen hulrum og differentieres i flere neurale celletyper, herunder neuroner, der udvidede axoner i værtscelle rygmarven over lange afstande.
