Den nuvarande prioriteringen i bröstcancer strålbehandling är att minska hjärt-doser utan att äventyra målet vävnadstäckning. Den frivilliga breath-hold-teknik som beskrivs här är en enkel, billig lösning på detta problem och i stånd att införas i stor utsträckning utan behov av specialiserad utrustning.
