Luciferase-gemodificeerd menselijk brein tumor xenotransplantaten kan intracranially worden vastgesteld athymische muizen, met de daaropvolgende controle van de tumorgroei en de respons op de therapie met behulp van bioluminescentie beeldvorming. In combinatie met survival analyse, bioluminescentie monitoring is een essentieel onderzoeksinstrument voor pre-klinisch testen van therapieën worden overwogen voor de behandeling van hersentumoren.
