Det aktuella protokollet visar en enkel metod för spårning av ventrala tegmental område (VTA) glutamat projektioner till hippocampus. Fotostimulering av VTA glutamat nervceller kombinerades med CA1 inspelning för att visa hur VTA glutamat terminaler modulerar CA1 förmodade pyramidal avfyrning hastighet in vivo.
