Transecção do nervo óptico é um modelo amplamente utilizado de lesão do SNC adulto. Este modelo é ideal para a realização de uma série de manipulações experimentais que visam a retina globalmente ou diretamente a população-alvo feridos neuronal de células ganglionares da retina.
