Cytoskeletal Dynamik werden durch Bildgebung von fluoreszenzmarkierten Proteinen unter Verwendung von internen Totalfluoreszenzmikroskopie quantifiziert. Als Beispiel hat die Zytoskelett-Protein, Aip1p, Lokalisierung und Bewegung in Zellen, die das mutierte Aktin-Isoform exprimieren, R256H verändert.
