L'infection humaine par E. histolytica conduit à l'amibiase, une cause majeure de diarrhée dans les pays tropicaux. L'infection est initiée par l'interaction d'agents pathogènes sur des cellules épithéliales de l'intestin, provoquant l'ouverture des contacts cellule-cellule et par conséquent, une diarrhée, parfois suivie d'une infection du foie. Cet article fournit un modèle pour évaluer les premières interactions hôte-pathogène pour améliorer notre compréhension de la pathogenèse amibiase.
