שינויים עדינים מעקב בהתקדמות ו קינטיקה של שלבי מחזור התא ניתן להשיג זאת על ידי שימוש בשילוב של תיוג חילוף החומרים של חומצות גרעין עם BrdU ו מכתים סך הדנ"א הגנומי באמצעות יודיד Propidium. שיטה זו מונעת את הצורך של סינכרון כימי של תאים רכיבה על אופניים, ובכך למנוע את כניסתה של נזק שאינו ספציפי בדנ"א, אשר בתורו משפיע על התקדמות מחזור התא.
