En protokol præsenteres for at udtrække det samlede lipidindhold i cellevæggen i en bred vifte af mykobakterier. Desuden er ekstraktion og analytiske protokoller af de forskellige typer mykolic syrer vist. En tynd-lag kromatografisk protokol til overvågning af disse mykobakterielle forbindelser er også forudsat.
