الذات تجميعها monolayers (صواريخ سام) التي تشكلت من سلسلة طويلة thiols ألكان على الذهب توفير ركائز محددة جيدا لتشكيل أنماط البروتين والحبس الخلية. الطباعة Microcontact من hexadecanethiol باستخدام (PDMS) ختم polydimethylsiloxane تليها الردم مع غليكول منتهية ألكان ثيول مونومر تنتج نمطا حيث البروتين وخلايا كثف فقط لمنطقة hexadecanethiol ختمها.
