Il protocollo descrive un sistema modello efficiente e riproducibile per studiare herpes simplex virus di tipo 1 (HSV-1) latenza e riattivazione. Il dosaggio utilizza omogenei culture neurone simpatico e consente la dissezione molecolare del virus-neurone interazioni utilizzando una varietà di strumenti interferenza tra RNA e l'espressione di proteine ricombinanti.
